FOR PARTNERS OF SEX ADDICTS HEALING IS POSSIBLE

Learning that your partner or spouse has been engaging in secretive sexual behaviors can be devastating, terrifying and confusing.  The trauma of such a discovery leads to symptoms that one might experience following any event in which their reality has been completely shattered:
  • Difficulty Sleeping
  • Difficulty Eating
  • Physical Pain
  • Numbing
  • Shakiness
  • Difficulty Concentrating
  • Excessive Fear
  • Excessive Anger
  • Reoccurring Thoughts
  • Confusion
  • Mood Swings

Once the dust from an initial discovery begins to settle, most partners also report feelings of depression, hopelessness and loneliness.  These emotional states can be further complicated when the Sex Addict enters treatment and finds a therapeutic community of support, leaving the Partner to wonder whether their pain is real and worthy of validation and attention.

If you can relate to any of the above, know that everything that you are experiencing is REAL, and is EXACTLY how we are wired to respond when everything we know to be true is called into question.  The good news is that we are also wired to HEAL, GROW and THRIVE.

Finding Partner sensitive support with a professional or support system that is knowledgeable about BETRAYAL TRAUMA and Sex Addiction is critical for your healing journey.
